Getting Started with Licenseware
Welcome to Licenseware! This guide provides a high-level overview of the essential steps and features to help you start your journey. Each section includes a link to detailed documentation, should you need additional support.
Create an Account
To access the Licenseware platform, start by registering an account on your preferred regional instance (EU, US, or APAC). During registration, you’ll have the option to preload sample data for a guided tour of the platform’s functionality.
🔗 How to create an account
Load Sample Data
If you selected the “Load sample data for my account” option during registration, a variety of Microsoft, Java, and infrastructure reports will begin generating automatically. You can also create a new project later and enable sample data from there.
⚠️ Projects with sample data cannot accept manual data uploads.
🔗 Using sample data
Lansweeper API Integration
For users leveraging Lansweeper Cloud, Licenseware offers a direct integration to ingest inventory data. This allows seamless processing without manual data exports. The integration requires setting up an API connection following a short sequence of steps.

Review Supported Data Sources
Licenseware supports a wide range of data sources across vendors and use cases. This includes upload templates, API integrations, and outputs from industry tools. Reviewing the supported sources helps ensure you’re collecting and formatting your data correctly.

Viewing and Managing Reports
Licenseware automatically generates boilerplate reports after data is processed within each app. These reports can be accessed from the Reports section and provide insights such as license requirements, usage, inventory, and more.
From the Reports view, you can:
-
Open reports for detailed analysis
-
Download reports for offline use
-
Share reports securely via time-limited links
-
Upload more data to update results
-
Access the Custom tab to build personalized dashboards
Some reports are powered by multiple apps—for example, Oracle licensing reports may require both database and infrastructure data.

Understand Projects
Projects in Licenseware act as isolated environments. They manage user access, keep data segregated, and can be used to organize work by customer, vendor, or specific use cases (e.g. Oracle licensing, renewal assessments). Projects are also where you manage app usage, reports, and integrations.
