Reports
Licenseware automatically generates a series of standardized boilerplate reports after data is processed. These reports provide actionable insights based on uploaded or connected data and can be found under the Reports section.
Accessing Reports
Navigate to the Reports section from the sidebar. You'll find two tabs:
-
Reports – Auto-generated reports based on your uploaded or connected data
-
Custom – Where you can design your own dashboards (see Creating Custom Reports)
What You Can Do in the Reports View
Each report tile offers several functions:
-
View – Open and explore the report contents
-
Download – Export the full report as a file
-
Upload – Add new or updated data
-
Fullscreen – Open the report for presentation
-
Side Panel – Click on a report to see last update date, required apps, and description
- Share Reports - Create public URLs to share reports
Sharing Reports
You can securely share a report using a time-limited public link (note the user does not require a Licenseware account to view this report):
-
Click the Share icon on the report tile
-
Choose a visibility level (e.g. Public)
-
Set an expiration window (Minutes, Hours, Days, Months)
-
Copy and send the link to the intended recipient
Once the expiration time is reached, the report link will automatically become inactive.
Some Reports Use Data from Multiple Apps
Many reports are powered by a single application’s data, such as Microsoft SQL Server Details (from MDM). However, some reports require data from more than one app.
Example: Oracle Database Consolidated Report
To generate this report, data must be processed from:
-
ODBM (Oracle Database Manager) – Provides detailed usage and database option data
-
IFMP (Infrastructure Mapper) – Supplies infrastructure and CPU topology
Combining both sources allows for a complete and accurate Oracle licensing calculation by factoring in both software usage and the underlying hardware or virtual infrastructure.
When selecting a report, the required apps are listed on the right-hand panel to help you identify data dependencies before uploading or viewing.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Report not available?
Check that all required data has been uploaded and successfully processed. Reports will only appear once all prerequisite inputs from the relevant apps are available.
Unexpected reports showing up?
Some apps and datasets contribute to multiple reports. For example:
-
Uploading RVTools data (via IFMP) may trigger generation of Microsoft or Red Hat reports if it contains evidence of Windows Server or RHEL installations.
This is expected behaviour based on detected software and infrastructure data.
Need a report that doesn’t exist?
You can:
-
Create a Custom Report from the Custom tab (see the guide here)
-
Or submit a request using the instructions in our Support & Request Guide
