Options Pack Usage Statistics

This article explains how to obtain and run the script, and how to share the output with Licenseware for further analysis.

Oracle provides a diagnostic script—options_packs_usage_statistics.sql—to help organizations review their usage of Oracle Database Options and Enterprise Management Packs

Overview

The options_packs_usage_statistics.sql script generates two sections:

  1. Database Option and Management Pack Usage – Summary of identified features in use.
  2. Features Used by Each Option/Pack – A breakdown of specific features that triggered license implications.

This output is useful for reviewing potential license exposure related to Oracle’s advanced database features. It is not a licensing entitlement statement, but rather an informational resource.

Where to Get the Script

To download the script:

  1. Go to the Oracle Support site:
    https://support.oracle.com
  2. Log in using your Oracle Support credentials. If you don’t have an account, click Register and follow the instructions.
  3. Search for Document ID: 1317265.1
    Or access it directly:
    https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1317265.1

How to Run the Script

You can execute the script in two ways:

  • Manually on individual Oracle Database instances using SQL*Plus or any other SQL execution environment.
  • Automatically across multiple databases using the Oracle Enterprise Manager Job System. For more information on setting this up, refer to the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Administrator's Guide.

After execution, the script outputs a detailed report listing the detected usage of database options and management packs.

Using Licenseware for Analysis

Once you've run the script:

  1. Save the script output as a text or .csv file.
  2. Upload the file directly to the Licenseware platform.

Licenseware will ingest the data to:

  • Identify which database options and packs are in use
  • Highlight potential license exposure
  • Correlate findings with deployment data (if available) for deeper insights

This can support internal audits, optimization efforts, or discussions with Oracle Licensing Management Services (LMS).
