Bulk Exclude
Learn how to use the Microsoft Device Bulk Edit Template in Licenseware to exclude specific devices from licensing analysis due to environment considerations or user-based entitlements.
The Microsoft Device Bulk Edit Template enables you to modify licensing analysis outcomes in the Microsoft Deployment Manager (MDM) application by excluding specific devices from the analysis. This is particularly useful when certain licensing requirements are already covered through alternative agreements or rights, such as:
-
Disaster Recovery (DR) and failover rights inherited from licensed production environments
-
User-based licensing (e.g., MSDN, Visual Studio) which entitles development and test environments to use software without requiring additional licenses
Purpose
By using the bulk edit template, you can:
-
Exclude devices from the licensing calculation
-
Document the justification for exclusion
-
Streamline licensing accuracy and reflect real-world entitlements
