API

Fleet is an API integration. Connect it before you export a file.

Create credentials in Fleet

Section titled “Create credentials in Fleet”

Create an API-only user with the Observer role. Observer is read-only. In Fleet, open Settings, then Users, create the user, and select API-only. Copy the API token. It is shown once.

A regular user’s token, from My account then Get API token, expires with the session. An API-only user’s token does not. Fleet documents the token on the REST API page.

Connect in Licenseware

Section titled “Connect in Licenseware”
  1. Open Datasources from the sidebar and click Fleet.
  2. Click Connect. Documentation is at the top right of the source page.
  3. Fill the required fields. Each one is marked with *.
    • Instance URL. The placeholder is https://fleet.yourcompany.com.
    • API Token
  4. Verify connection and Save credentials stay disabled until every required field is filled. Click Verify connection first, then Save credentials.

If you can’t connect

Export the host and software list from Fleet as CSV, with device name, software name, version and publisher, and upload it to the SIM template.
